The job
Make a busy discussion easier to enter without hiding where the summary came from. Each brief reports how many comments were analysed and links to the article and Hacker News thread.
The engineering decision
Generate briefs in the background and serve cached results. Reading a brief does not call a model directly. A failed refresh leaves the previous brief available, and recorded evaluations inform model selection.
The limits
A brief is a model-generated interpretation, not a verified account of every comment. Input is capped, article extraction is best-effort, and output validation cannot establish factual accuracy. The evaluation samples are small, not a general quality benchmark.
